Ilserna is one of the major cities of Atsiria, the seat of House Sarris.

Ilserna is a quiet, subdued city. It is the only Atsirian city without some sort of bustling trade; since House Sarris lost the Hanalan relations to House Karnach, there's simply been no one and nowhere to trade with. Often called the Forgotten City, it has fallen far from its once glorious place at House Atsir's right hand. While it still enjoys close relations with House Atsir, which has managed to consistantly sustain it, the Ilserna voice in the Jewel's Council is usually disregarded unless backed up by another, and the politcal power it maintains is little. It controls no major assets of its own.

Ilserna is, however, known for a history of bright intellectuals, and it has many libraries -- though none rivaling the Archives in Razen -- which are open to the public, and quite often full. Many students of the Atsirian University are Ilsernans, and these usually very quiet people can become quite animated when discussing books. They also have a small taste for the stage which is lacking in every other Atsirian city but Cleraine, and have several theatres in the city.
